The Scott demo-truck showed up at Huntsville State Park today and they brought a nice selection of their latest mountain and road bikes.

Seth and I were able to do a short loop on a carbon framed Spark RC and an aluminum Spark 40. Coming from a rigid single-speed the bikes ride like a magic carpet. I found myself looking for bigger and bigger roots to ride over. They just seem to disappear under the full suspension.

Another cool feature is the lock out lever on the handle bar. It has three settings switching front and rear suspension simultaneously from 100mm to 70mm to fully locked out.

The Spark RC was incredibly light for a full-suspension 29er. The Spark 40 on the other hand was pretty porky. The reps told us that it’s not so much the frame, but the components that caused the huge weight difference. I guess that explains the price difference of around $5,000 as well.
